usadeepsouth.com ![]() Christmas, 1953 by Eva Braswell When holly wreaths have all been hung, And many carols have been sung, And bells of all the churches rung, Then we know it’s Christmas! There gleams a tiny candle light, Here, Christmas tree with tinsel bright And children laughing with delight; They are glad it’s Christmas. The starlight brightens earth and skies All wrapped in snow, the cold earth lies, While north wind sings instead of sighs, So all may know it’s Christmas. It sings of Babe born long ago, God’s greatest gift to earth below; (Because of Him, we gifts bestow On those we love at Christmas.) It tells of manger--Holy Child-- Of angel song to shepherds mild, A mother heart so undefiled She bore God’s Son that Christmas! Of bright and glowing eastern star Guiding wise men from afar; Its rays still reaching where we are With joy and peace at Christmas. But birth is naught for happiness Unless all life and death confess That God is Truth and Righteousness As Jesus does each Christmas. So may our hearts with love light shine May all the glory, Christ, be Thine That all may know our Lord Divine Was born, still lives, this Christmas! Eva wrote to USADEEPSOUTH: “I have written nearly 400 poems and essays over the years . . . I enjoyed writing Little Willie because my husband and I both lived many of the incidents contained therein. We are in our eighties, married for 61years.” Please visit our Message Board or write Ye Editor at bethjacks@hotmail.com. Thanks!
