THREE POEMS by Danny Barbare
Thanksgiving Dinner
The
tree
is
becoming
leafless
or
lonely
feeling
rather
drab
when
it
creates
papershell
pecans
that
become
the
topping
on
the
pie.
...............................
The Magnolia
So radiant and sweet
I close my eyes
and wherever I am
I go here again and again.
I am home
where the magnolia tree blooms
in the South.
I reach up and cup my hands
like petals of the flower –
toward the sun –
and I am deeply rooted.
...............................
Ice Tea
So
sweet
is
the
glass
filled
to
the
rim
with
so
little
less
than
a
thank
you
of
ice
tea.
